23 days out

For about a year and a half, maybe two years, my girlfriend, Hannah, and I have been saving up for a cross country road trip. The elevator pitch that I’ve been giving anyone that has asked is that the timing is just perfect for us to do this right now. Han got her Masters degree in February and we have a wedding to attend in early May. The plan is to hit the road immediately after that. We’ll be loading up the car with our hiking and camping gear, and our Golden Retriever, Marcy, and spending the following two months exploring the National Parks. Today I find myself, 23 days out from our departure date, sitting in our half packed up apartment watching The Masters and drinking my fifth cup of coffee. The coffee is really just for the taste because no amount of caffeine can stop the mid-afternoon nap that will happen later today. The gentle piano of the Masters theme, the subtle chirps of the course birds, and the calming whispers of the commentators, provides the same effect as drinking...
